JUNE WOOD

CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer) & Founder

Since retirement from Georgia Power of Southern Company in 2013, June Wood found her life’s purpose to use her God-given passion, skills, and abilities to encourage, inspire, and mentor women from all walks of life especially single mothers & working women through the non-profit established as the Virtuous Women Life Academy.

Wood has some personal experiences and have witnessed many of the challenges that women face in family, personal and professional situations.   Many women are challenged with depression, low self esteem, overcoming divorce and are stressed to the max. They want a better life for themselves and their children. They are overwhelmed and need encouragement, mentoring and help to move forward towards their purpose driven lives.

Since 2014, Wood has provided outreach to women by offering inspirational support, referring them to counseling & transitional housing, personal & career assessments and coaching for career preparation/placements & entrepreneurship, parenting, higher education, financial planning and other life skills.

Encouragement to build self esteem

Encouragement is our main focus! Encouraging support is provided through individual one-on-one and group sessions to establish a VWLA Purpose Driven Life Plan. In addition, we host motivational & educational group events, conference calls, and a book club to engage our VWLA women.

Education

by providing educational assistance

We believe education is a key to success. Educational support is provided to lead our VWLA women to achieve a higher level of education. We accomplish this by completing personal and professional skill assessments and education grants.

Employment

by sponsoring career opportunities

At VWLA, we strive to lift women out of hardship by assisting with career goals. We work closely with our VWLA women to help define their career interests/opportunities through career assessments, interview preparations, internships and career/volunteer opportunities.

Entrepreneurship

by coaching for business development

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, VWLA is here to help.
